Presidential Search Home

What is your hiring timeline?

It is anticipated the search will take eight to twelve months to complete, as it takes time to find the right person to be the next president. Even if this person is selected relatively quickly, he or she needs time to transition from his or her current situation.

What confidentiality measures are in place?

Confidentiality is essential to attract an appropriately talented, credentialed, and diverse candidate pool without compromising a candidate’s current employment.

  • All members of the Presidential Search Committee have signed a confidentiality agreement to refrain from speaking to anyone about the search.
  • The Commissioner and Chair of the search committee are the only individuals authorized to speak publicly about the search.

Who makes the final decision?

Presidential searches within the Utah System of Higher Education are managed by the Board of Regents according to Regents’ Policy R203 and Utah Code §53B-2-102. The Board of Regents will receive feedback from representatives of the on-campus group meetings and Trustees as part of their confidential deliberation and assessment of the finalists.

The voting for appointment of the president will be properly noticed and constitute an open meeting of the Board of Regents. A quorum of nine (or more) votes is required to appoint a president.
