Description The intern will work with the Natural Resource Specialist to complete various projects for Bryce Canyon Resource Management. These projects include production of maps for different work groups within the park using GIS software. Also, projects may require field work (weather dependent) to map locations using a Trimble GPS for data collection. Also, there may be an opportunity to participate in the park's air quality monitoring program and monthly snow surveys. In addition to the above responsibilities the individual may be assigned to assist resource management staff with other resource related projects such as wildlife monitoring, back country exotic vegetation control, and rare plant monitoring. There may also be the opportunities to assist with Search and Rescue activities within the park.

Work Hours 20 hours per week
Qualifications Background in GIS and Geology with experiences in biological sciences. Some duties require sitting, standing, or walking for protracted periods of time. Some duties may also require strenuous physical activity such as climbing, lifting, carrying, and snow-shoeing or hiking at high altitudes and over rugged, precipitous, and sometimes unstable terrain.
