SUU strives to see its students succeed, and on Tuesday students will have the opportunity to touch base with over 30 different vendors to not only look for work after graduation but also for internships and summer jobs.
The Career Fair will be located in the Sharwan Smith Center Ballroom from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. SUU Director of Career Development & Employment Relations Michael Carmine suggests students come professionally dressed with résumé in hand because the “first impression is everything.”
“Employers are here to hire the best qualified candidates,” he said. “If a student dresses and presents (themselves) professionally it becomes easier to land…employment…or an internship.”
Carmine also encourages students who won’t be graduating in May to still attend because it allows exposure and to start networking with potential employers.
Students who might worry whether their résumé is ready to be presented to potential employers can schedule a meeting with SUU Academic Advisor Brent Jones where he will help with questions about résumés or to even do a mock interview.
Jones can be contacted at 435-586-5420.
Jones said that having a generic résumé that might include an objective is acceptable for the Career Fair. The résumé should be printed on résumé paper. However, Jones does warn that a résumé like this would not be acceptable if applying for a specific position.
