Name: Dean O'Driscoll
In coordination with Southern Utah University’s “Dis-Ability” Week audience members at Tuesday’s, Oct. 25, Convocation will hear from Utah’s Assistant Attorney General Steve Mikita; a man who has accomplished extraordinary things all from the seat of his wheelchair.
Born with an incurable nerve disorder—spinal muscular atrophy—Mikita has not let his disability keep him from accomplishing his dreams. In his new book, I Sit All Amazed: The Extraordinary Power of a Mother’s Love, Mikita chronicles the challenges of life in a wheelchair and how he achieved success.
Mikita has been the assistant attorney general since 1982 and during this time he has handled numerous cases before the Utah Supreme Court. He received his law degree at Brigham Young University Law School and is also a graduate of Duke University.
Besides being the assistant attorney general, Mikita is a motivational speaker who has toured all over the country.
This convocation will be at 11:30 a.m. in the Sterling R. Church Auditorium; it is free and open to the public.
