SUU’s Annual Veteran’s Day Celebration

War veterans of the United States of America will be honored in Southern Utah University's 22nd Annual Veterans Day Observance Program. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 11 at 11 a.m. in the Sharwan Smith Center Ballroom. The public is encouraged to attend this event in honor of the veterans' service to our country.

While honoring the service of all veterans, the program will specifically recognize a few individuals close to home. This year's honorees include WWII veteran Kent "Red" Dover, a lifelong Cedar City resident and an alumnus of SUU; the late J. Travis Nelson, Red's nephew and a Vietnam veteran; and Coast Guard retiree Ryan H. White, a current SUU student.

Also included in the program will be a special musical number performed by the Cedar High Symphonic Band, conducted by Randy Dulaney, a current SUU student and composer. The piece they will perform is a moving tribute to the military and veterans.

Fifth grade students in Iron County will participate in a poster contest entitled, “What My Country Means to Me," in order to further honor the veterans.
Patriotic music and a short reception will follow the program.

Please contact SUU’s Lindsey Brown with questions about the University’s annual Veteran’s Day festivities at 435-586-7715.
