Howard R. Driggs Memorial Lecture
Senator Robert F. Bennett will present this year's Howard R. Driggs Memorial Lecture on Tuesday, March 25, 11:30 a.m. in the Gilbert Great Hall, Hunter Conference Center. His topic: Conflict Resolution and the New American West.
Howard R. Driggs was a professor of English education (the first at the Branch Normal School - now SUU) and historian of the American West. His extensive collection of papers, correspondence, diaries, honors, awards, photographs, memorabilia and poetry are included in the Howard R. Driggs Collection archived in the Sherratt Library.
SUU gratefully acknowledges the support of Camille Bradford and Allen & Kathleen Christensen. We remember in a special way a long time supporter of the Driggs Lecture, Phillips Verner Bradford who passed away in late 2013.

Southern Utah Captures Share of Big Sky Championship
Southern Utah (21-8, 15-5) pulled away from visiting Northern Colorado (14-15, 8-12) for a final score of 63-48 to secure a share of the Big Sky regular season championship on March 8. The Thunderbirds won their last five games of the year to match North Dakota for the best record in the conference and accumulated the highest win total in program history.
"It's hard to put into words, I'm just so proud of all of our players," stated SUU head coach JR Payne. "These girls have so much going in their lives with family, schools and injuries. For them to achieve this, I just couldn't be more proud of them."
Senior center Carli Moreland scored six points in the game, but her fifth brought the crowd to their feet as it represented the 1,000th of her career at SUU, making her just the tenth women's basketball player in school history reach the mark.

Alumni Legacy Scholarship
The value of a Southern Utah University diploma continues to grow and has a much wider reach, and impact, than ever before.
Thanks to the Alumni Legacy Scholarship, children and grandchildren of SUU alumni living outside of Utah now qualify for in-state tuition, resulting in a savings of more than $11,000 each year. This is a four-year, renewable scholarship.
Prospective students need only apply and maintain a 3.0 GPA while attending SUU. The priority deadline was December 1st, but scholarships are available until all slots are filled.
