The SUU Department of Art and Design presents Art Insights: Will Rogan, Thursday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium Theatre.
Rogan is currently serving as visiting faculty in San Francisco Art Institute’s New Genres program. Rogan’s artwork is inspired by the natural world. He will discuss a body of artwork that was inspired by the story of a woman who was hit by a meteorite in 1954. Rogan will also discuss a fine art quarterly periodical which he founded and edits entitled “THE THING.” Each year for the publication, four artists, writers, musicians or filmmakers are invited to create an everyday object that somehow incorporates text, which is then hand-wrapped and mailed to subscribers. Rogan’s unconventional approach to fine art promises to make for an intriguing presentation.
Art Insights is a weekly program hosted during the Fall and Spring semesters by the Art and Design faculty. In Art Insights students and community members meet weekly to attend gallery openings and experience presentations and discussions by visiting artists and art educators from around the nation who share their work and insights.
Admission is free, and the general public is invited to attend. For more information on SUU College of Performing and Visual Arts events, please call the Arts Hotline at 435.865.8800 or visit www.suu.edu/arts
