Graduate Educator Licensure Program (GELP)

 

The Graduate Studies in Education Program at Southern Utah University has seen a dramatic increase in interest and admissions. Due to teacher and administrative shortages in Utah and the Nation, and due to the recent "No Child Left Behind" legislation, many individuals with bachelor's and/or master's degrees are seeking educator licensure and retooling in a variety of high need areas.

The Graduate Educator Licensure Program (GELP) will provide delivery of licensure needs to educators in seven areas of emphasis in a revised, expedited, and efficient manner. The Graduate Studies Program in Education provides the following Graduate Educator Licensure and Endorsement Programs to meet the growing needs of individuals, schools, and districts.  Courses are delivered on-campus, EDNET, Breeze, WebCt online and Hybrid..

  1. Elementary Education Licensure Program (ELITE)
  2. Secondary Education Licensure Program (SELCT)  
  3. Special Education Mild/Moderate Licensure Program (SPED)
  4. English as a Second language Endorsement (ESL)
  5. Reading Endorsement/Specialist Endorsement Program
  6. Instructional Technology Endorsement
  7. Administrative/Supervisory Licensure (LEAD)

APPLICATION DEADLINE and MANDATORY ORIENTATION:     Orientation is mandatory before you can enroll in classes AND be matriculated into the program.

SUMMER:     January 1, 2009  Mandatory Orientation January 10, 2009

FALL:            May 1, 2009  Mandatory Orientation  May 9, 2009

SPRING:      September 1, 2008 Mandatory Orientation September 13, 2008
