Ron Spears’ Senior Seminar Class Book Release Party

Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: Students from Ron Spears’ Senior Seminar class will be presenting illustrations based on their interpretation of the theme Moon Goddess. The images were compiled and published into a book, Moon Goddess. As part of the Department of Art and Design’s weekly lecture series Art Insights, Ron’s Class will celebrate the release of their book, display the original artwork, and each student will give a 4-5 minute presentation about their inspiration Thursday, January 30, 2014. The lecture begins at 7:00pm Gilbert Great Hall, Hunter Conference Center. Admission is free and the general public is encouraged to attend.          

The Art Insights’ event will feature live music by Steven Swift, book sales and signing, with a book drawing and other prizes. The artists whose work is featured in the exhibition and book include Dre Freden, Jordan Green, Brian Heritage, Jenessa Lingard, Ann Middleton, Andrew Mitchell, Emily Mitchell, Rachel Ross, Rylie Savage and John Taylor. Ron Spears’ diverse career as an illustrator and painter has taken him on a colorful journey. He has illustrated book covers, magazine articles, video games and much more. He illustrated the children’s book Dad, Are You the Tooth Fairy? written by renowned comic actor Jason Alexander. As a Lead Illustrator for International Game Technology, and an Art Director for Sierra On-Line, Ron has created countless illustrations for dozens of video games. Additional projects include illustrations for Dungeons and Dragons, Upper Deck, Blizzard Entertainment and many others. He received his Bachelor of Art from the University of Puget Sound and was awarded his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Hartford. Ron is currently an assistant professor at Southern Utah University in the Department of Art and Design.
