Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: The 22nd Annual Art Auction presented by the Friends of the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery. This year’s lively fundraising gala will be held on March 6, 2014 5:30 pm, at Rusty’s Ranch House. Tickets to this one-night-only event, which includes dinner, are $50 before February 27 and $55 after February 28. (a portion of the ticket is a tax deductible donation). As a encore to last year Brad Carroll, composer of Lend Me a Tenor The Musical, will be the emcee for the evening and Peter Sham, the book writer and lyricist for Lend Me a Tenor The Musical and associate chair of SUU’s Department of Theatre Arts & Dance, will facilitate the energetic bidding process as the auctioneer.
A wide spectrum of visual artwork will be up for auction including paintings, drawings, prints, photography, ceramics, jewelry and other unique pieces by some of the finest artists in the Southwest. Participating artists include Richard Hardin, Susan Harris, J. Brad Holt, Valerie Smith, Harold Snider, Ron Spears and Kate Starling as well as several gifted new southern Utah artists. This year we invite you to preview the art online at the Gallery’s website at suu.edu/pva/artgallery (available February 20, 2014) or by attending The Art Auction Preview Exhibition at the Gallery, February 20 (opening at 6pm) through March 5, 2014, Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 7pm. This year we are introducing an online auction with select items that can be bid on only online through biddingforgood.com.
Proceeds will go to the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery, the Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA) and the fall 2014 exhibition, Fifty from Six, a spectacular ceramics showcase by noted regional artists. Funds raised also go to benefit Friends sponsored education and outreach activities for Iron County K-12 students and the Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA).
