Alan R. Hamlin was born and raised in the Los Angeles area of Southern California. He earned a B.S. degree in Finance from California State Polytechnic University in 1970. Two years later, he received an M.B.A. degree from Oregon State University. He received his Ph.D. from Brigham Young University in 1987.
Dr. Hamlin has been involved in many academic and civic activities, including President of the SUU faculty; 8 years on Executive Committee of Summer Games; 3 years chairman of the Southern Utah Special Olympics Advisory Board; 8 years on the Cedar City Council; and involvement with youth baseball, soccer and Scouting. He has been listed each year since 1992 in Who's Who in America; Who's Who in Finance and Industry; and Who's Who in the World.
Dr. Hamlin has provided consulting services to legal firms since 1992. In addition, he has been published in many academic journals, including the Mountain Plains Journal of Business and Economics, Encyclia, and Business and Society Review. He has also completed post-doctoral courses at Brigham Young University and the University of South Carolina. He and his wife Kathy have 5 children, and eleven grandchildren. His favorite activities are traveling, racquetball and being a granddad (not necessarily in that order).
