Toanui Tawa earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Southern Utah University. Having taught for several years at Cedar High School and Canyon View High school, Toa‘s assignments have included upper division English Education courses for English majors with an emphasis in teaching at the secondary school level. He currently teaches introductory and intermediate level composition courses. His ENGL 2010 course focuses on Polynesian perspectives – a unique look at current issues affecting indigenous peoples of the South Pacific region.
Born and raised in Tauranga, New Zealand, Toa is proud of his Maori heritage and has been the advisor for the SUU Polynesian Club for almost 10 years.
