Department of Communication

The Department of Communication at Southern Utah University is part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Students traditionally rank high in regional and national competitions for journalism and broadcasting. A hands-on approach and excellent student-teacher ratio benefits students in terms of instruction and experience providing an education not available at other institutions.

Announcements

  • New Speech and Presentation Center. A new speech and presentation center is being developed through the Communication Department. It is housed in the Multipurpose Center 209A & B and will assist students, faculty and community members in the writing and delivery of oral and written communication.
  • Friday, October 26th, 2007 students from SUU's Power 91 walked away with 10 gold and 2 silver awards from the Utah Broadcaster Association Awards. details. Details for the Press Release.
  • The Communication Department was awarded a $900 grant to start a Speakers Bureau. Details.
  • SUU Student Awarded National Journalism Award ~ Southern Utah University student, Marc Dotson, a political science senior from St. George, UT, and Editor in Chief of the SUU University Journal was selected to receive a 2006 National Mark of Excellence award for Editorial Writing from the Society of Professional Journalists.
