Utah Communication Association (UCA) Conference

The Department of Communication at Southern Utah University is now inviting completed faculty and student papers, media presentations, and panel proposals addressing new and original thought on a broad array of communication topics.  Possible themes suggested but not limited to include: sports and popular communication, mediated communication, political communication, organizational communication, public relations, broadcasting, and journalism.  We encourage all variety of communication projects, regardless of topic area or approach. The theme for this conference will be: “Cultivating a spirit of creative and scholarly pursuit: A look at the future of communication studies.”

The conference will be held in the Hunter Conference Center on the campus of Southern Utah University on March 7, 2008 in Cedar City, Utah.  Panels will take place on Friday morning and Friday afternoon. 
The top faculty, graduate student, and undergraduate student projects will be recognized at a luncheon during the convention.  Student papers and projects should be clearly marked as “graduate” or “undergraduate” for the purposes of determining awards and for slating presentations. Graduate students are especially encouraged to submit completed research papers. Collaborative projects between students and faculty are also welcome, however, these projects will not be eligible for awards.

Paper, Panel, and Project Submissions: Authors are required to submit completed papers and panel proposals electronically to Kevin Stein at stein@suu.edu.  Panel proposals should include an extended abstract regarding the general theme of the panel, a short description of each paper/project to be presented, and specific contact information for each participant. Media production projects should be mailed before the deadline to:

Deadline : All projects and proposals should be received no later than January 25, 2008.

Notification: Authors will be sent notification of acceptance or rejection by email on or before February 12, 2008
