One of the primary goals of SUU Regional Services is to see community engagement become institutionalized as part of SUU’s identity, culture, and commitments, and to facilitate community access to the wealth of knowledge, technology, and talent that resides on our campus.
Community engagement describes the collaboration and engagement between SUU students and faculty and the larger community (local, regional, state, global), sharing knowledge and resources in the context of partnership. SUU is particularly dedicated to community engagement within the rural areas of the state.
To this end, the Communication Department at Southern Utah University has received a $900 grant from the Community Engagement Fund to stimulate and support campus-wide efforts to reach beyond the campus to the community and region.
These funds can be used to pay for such things as programs and seminars, travel, overload costs, materials, community and business assistance efforts, etc.
An important aspect of this endeavor is to ensure that SUU is recognized for the vital role it plays as a community partner and resource in southern Utah.
