Our Mission: To provide writers with readers

Believing that all writers need readers, we strive to serve the SUU community by responding as people to people, not merely as editors of papers in need of correction.  As students ourselves, we approach the writers who come to us as authors who have important issues to think through and talk about.  We serve students and faculty by offering responses to a wide variety of documents written for a wide variety of purposes and audiences, as well as by sponsoring panel discussions, workshops, an annual essay contest, readings by visiting writers, and other literacy events.

Consultation Goals

Hours

Because all writers need readers, the BC204 Writing Center is open 8-5 Monday through Friday and 1-4 Saturday. Take advantage of the Center since your HSS program fees support this service. Just visit the center or e-mail us at writingcenter@suu.edu. We accommodate walk-in appointments when our schedule board is not filled.

Although you may sign up for three appointments each week except at the end of the semester, we do limit you to one appointment per day. Because so many students want appointments during the three weeks before Finals, you may be limited to one appointment per week starting the second week of April if demand for our services is heavy at the end of the semester--and it usually is.

Hour-long appointments start on the hour.

Please also be aware that we do close early (at noon) on class days that fall before school holidays. We're closed during Finals Week to allow our staff the opportunity to prepare for their own final exams and papers.
