Southern Utah University will be hosting a community and campus cardboard drive on Thursday, June 6th in SUU’s baseball field parking lot located on University Blvd between 800W and 1150W from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Pete Heilgeist, director of purchasing and head of the recycling program at SUU wants to extend the campus recycling program to the community. “The university now has a cardboard baler and our intent has been to extend our services to the community for those who want to recycle cardboard,” says Heilgeist.

Tim Gray, the recycling coordinator at SUU is very excited about the cardboard drive. “There are a few outlets for people to recycle in Cedar City, but there is not a place to recycle cardboard.” Gray continues, “We want to make this a successful attempt to collect cardboard from the community, and hopefully make it a monthly service.”

Gray adds, “We ask that if you have cardboard that you want to recycle to please break it down and only drop it off between the hours of the drive. This will help to ensure that we will be able to hold the drive in the future by keeping the parking lot free of debris before and after the drive.”
