Published: October 17, 2008 | Read Time: 1 minutes

Some of the region’s most well-respected financial analysts will discuss the current economic crisis in a panel discussion at Southern Utah University next Thursday, October 23 at 11:30 a.m. in the Starlight Room of the University’s Sharwan Smith Student Center.

Such a discussion, which is free and open to the public, could not come at a more pertinent time.

The panel will include SUU Economics Professors Joe Baker and David Tufte, SUU Finance Professors Stephen Evans and Steven Harrop, as well as local Executive Banker for ADB Bank Rob Kerry. Baker will serve as panel moderator.

The group intends to look at the causes behind the nation’s current financial crisis, as well as discuss the effects of the crisis on the macro-economy (including inflation and unemployment); the stock and bond markets; banking and consumer credit; and corporate finance.

This is a unique opportunity for students and community members to become more informed about the economic decisions shaping the nation’s future. In addition, the panel will open the floor to questions, where individuals can get clarification on issues that concern individual circumstances.

The open panel discussion is sponsored by SUU’s School of Business.
