Southern Utah University’s Academic and Career Development Center (ACDC) will hold its annual Spring Career and Summer Job Fair on Tuesday, February 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Sharwan Smith Center Ballroom.

Continuing the new precedent set in the fall 2009 Career Fair, in addition to representation from a host of regional and national employers, there will also be booths for graduate school recruiters and a forum for SUU professors and employers to discuss the skills and knowledge most desirable in potential employees.

Additionally, the fair will host employers specifically looking for students of all levels and majors who are seeking employment for their fast-approaching summer break.

Each year companies come to SUU's campus to recruit qualified and capable employees. These companies come with the intention to specifically hire SUU students.

This year’s fair will be host to more than 60 employers and graduate programs. The spring fair will also feature many new companies that haven’t recruited at SUU before. The Career Fair is open to all majors and all levels of students and alumni.

Interested students, specifically juniors and seniors who will more immediately seek post-graduate employment, are encouraged to treat the Career Fair like a job interview.

According to Michael Carmine, ACDC director, recruiters at next week’s fair will be expecting to meet with professionally-dressed and academically-prepared students.

Carmine advises students to bring several copies of their resume to distribute to prospective employers.

As an added incentive for student participation, this year the ACDC will also be giving away one iPod Nano in a drawing for students who come prepared in appropriate interview attire and with resume in hand. Above all, Carmine emphasizes, students should come prepared to make important career connections.

To assist in such preparations, The ACDC offers resume assistance. Students may contact Brent Jones at 435-586-5420 to schedule an appointment for a resume review. Additional information to help students prepare for the Career Fair is also available on the ACDC website.
