Every year, a General Catalog is published in both hard-copy and on-line forms. The Catalog is your guide to exactly what you need to do in order to properly complete a degree at SUU. Requirements often change from year to year year, so knowing which catalog you are working from is one of the most important questions you can answer. Another important point is that ALL REQUIREMENTS (GENERAL EDUCATION, MAJOR, MINOR) MUST BE MET FROM THE SAME CATALOG.
Your catalog is determined by the year you first enter SUU. For example, if you started in the fall of 2008 your catalog is 2008-09, encompassing the academic year from Summer 2008 through Spring 2009.
You may use your initial catalog for up to six years. (Catalogs expire after six years.) Or you may choose a subsequent catalog if you remain continuously enrolled, i.e. register for at least one course every following fall and spring semester (summer semester is not required.) If you do not stay continuously enrolled, you must use the current catalog upon re-entry. The exception is if you apply for Leave of Absence (also called Deferment) at the Admissions office before leaving SUU. Then you have up to 2 and a half years in which to return and still use the catalog that you entered with.
