2009 High School Fine Art Competition

2009 High School Fine Art Competition Winners are Announced

This year's competition was judged by faculty members of the Art and Design Department. The winning entries are:

Honorable Mention
Trevor Braunberger of Snow Canyon High School for Soda Fired Teapot Set
Megan Schwahn of Pine View High School for Imperfect Essences
Kristin Wankier of Juab High School for Bridge

About the High School Fine Arts Competition

32 students from across the state will participate in this year's High School Fine Art Competition. The exhibit will open on Thursday, September 10 with a reception at 7 p.m. in the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery and will remain through October 10.

A variety of artwork, matching the theme O for a Muse, will come from students representing eight schools: Delta High School, Desert Hills High School, Grand County High School, Hurricane High School, Juab High School, Pine View High School, and Tuacahn High School.

This is the second year the annual competition has partnered with the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Cash awards, special recognitions, and potential scholarships for the both the High School Fine Arts Competition and the High School Shakespeare Competition will be presented at the evening awards ceremony on Saturday, October 10, at 7 p.m.
