Thank you to everyone who participated in our 10th anniversary year in the College of Performing and Visual Arts. We couldn’t have made this year so successful if it were not for our audiences, gallery visitors, the marvelous students, faculty and staff at SUU. When the academic year concluded with our commencement on May 2, 2009, we had proudly produced over 100 events since September 2008. And, while the regular academic year schedule has ended, we still have a great set of programs planned for the summer at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery and at the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespearean Festival.

Supporting Students... Supporting the Arts...
In order to ensure a strong future for the arts at SUU, we all need to do our part to support scholarships and deliver quality educational experiences for our students. Although, many of us on the CPVA faculty and staff use payroll deductions directed to scholarships in art, dance, music or theatre to show our support for our students, more can be done to help our students to reach their artistic endeavors. I have set a goal for each of our departments to secure scholarship endowment funds by 2012. The ambitious goal to raise over $1 million is reachable if we all pull together. In order to reach this goal we will be enlisting our community members and alumni who share in our passion for providing a strong future for the artists of tomorrow through our support today.
As someone who was a first generation college student, I can attest to the fact that a university education can change your life. Had it not been for financial aid, I would never have been able to earn a college degree. When I talk to students who receive scholarship support, I am always moved by their heartfelt gratitude and deep appreciation. The opportunity for you to help make a difference is available now. Please contact me at 435-865-8554 to talk about how you can become part of the arts at SUU by supporting students and supporting the arts.
Thank you for your time and enjoy this issue of CPVA Arts News. We appreciate your continued support of the work of our faculty and students. I look forward to seeing you at our events this year. Best wishes.
