SOUTHERN UTAH UNIVERSITY SECOND ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL GEOLOGY FIELD TRIP

REQUIREMENTS and FEES:

To register for this course you must:

•  Complete a high school level Earth Science course.

•  Be a high school Senior next year.

•  Be interested in pursuing an Earth Science curriculum upon entering college.

•  Complete the application form.

•  Include a letter of recommendation from both your Earth Science teacher and Principal or Counselor

•  Include a $50 deposit (refundable if you are not accepted into the course, but not refundable if you are accepted).

High School Geology Field Trip Registration Fee is $600 and the remaining $550 is due upon acceptance into the course. Includes: tuition, student fees, transportation and normal meals while in class, campground fees.

You will receive three semester hours of credit of undergraduate credit for GEOL 4000 (Selected Field Trips).

You will need to supply: transportation between your "home" and Las Vegas, NV airport, field clothes, day pack, hydration equipment, tent, sleeping bag and pad, rock hammer, hand lens, safety goggles, supplies for note taking, camera (optional), personal gear, etc.

You will need to do the following for the credit: Actively participate in the field course, keep field notes during the trip, submit them along with a typed report of the field experience within three weeks of completion of the course (September 7, 2004).
