Our Change and Migration::We've been here at SUU for a while now and have made some positive changes. Our mission hasn't changed though our processes have. You will gradually see changes in our web content and approach (i.e. support information, tutorials, operation and development procedures, etc.). We have started the migration of all online and face-to-face courses (about 800) found in WebCT 4 to the eLearning LMS.
Since Blackboard has acquired WebCT, there may be some confusion of what eLearning really is. It was formally called WebCT Campus Edition 6, but was renamed Blackboard Learning System CE Enterprise License. Some faculty unaware of this fact may expect a full and original Blackboard product, but it is not. It is a full product update of the former WebCT Campus Edition series. So to eliminate confusion and to identify this LMS as something new, it will be called eLearning to keep things simple.
The migration is planned to take place during 2008. SCPS has purchased the new server and license. This means that there will be a migration of courses from the WebCT 4 server to the eLearning system. The process will take some time, which means that both LMS applications/servers will be operating until migration is complete. We are hopeful that this will happen quickly, efficiently and with minimized work for all. We do know that there are enough differences that everyone will need to participate in the orientation and general operation workshops.
