Mentor Grant Application Instructions

Purpose

UGRASP appreciates that in some cases, mentors must accompany students in the field or otherwise incur expenses for the student(s) to successfully complete the project.

UGRASP understands that a mentor's responsibility to his/her student does not end with the creation of an end product. To guide the student through the process, the mentor should be present for the dissemination of the project.

UGRASP also commends educators for any attempt they make to improve their methods for mentoring students, incorporating undergraduate research and scholarship into the curriculum, and/or initiating and maintaining an undergraduate research program.

In an effort to support educators in their interest and participation in undergraduate research and scholarship, UGRASP will accept funding requests for:

Application for a mentor grant may be made at any time during the academic year, but no less than three weeks prior to when the funds are needed. Applicants are encouraged to submit requests early in the academic year for which funds are needed. These applications may be approved as long as they are endorsed by the chairperson from the mentor’s department. All awards are contingent on remaining UGRASP funds and may not exceed $200. UGRASP will only consider applications for expenses incurred in the current academic year.

Any funds not spent by May 15th of the award year are forfeited.

Submission Instructions

The SUU mentor (faculty, administrator, professional staff) must complete and submit the UGRASP Grant Application Form:  Mentor version. Successful applicants must also complete the UGRASP Grant Report Form: Mentor version.

Correspondence

All forms should be completed online, printed, and signed by all required parties.  The form should then be sent via e-mail, campus mail, or faxed to:
