WEB SERVICES | Publicity
The Web is a powerful medium to distribute your message to many people at a very minimal cost. We want people in the campus community to use the Web to get this information out to the public. More pertinent content makes our site a more useful tool for everyone. However, we do have to maintain some guidelines and rules in order to keep our site cohesive and ordered.
Home Page/Flash Image Rotation
The University Relations Office is responsible for deciding the events that are placed in this section, most correlate to written press releases issued from their office. All inquiries about placement in this section should be directed to Jen Burt.
Home Page/Campus Happenings
No item shall be published on the SUU home page under the Campus Happenings section unless it pertains to all our potential audiences:
Future Students, Current Students, Faculty/Staff, Alumni, Friends, Community/Visitors
Persons with an event that meets this qualification can contact Web Services to work out an advertising plan.
If the event is targeted only to a specific group (curent students, alumni) the event should be advertised on that specific audience page.
Only events that are sponsored by SUU or events that are happening on the SUU campus will be posted in the SUU calendars. The calendars have an RSS feed generated each day for the "Daily Events." This is a powerful way to spread the news of an event to an even greater audience as feed syndication grows in popularity. Events just need to be posted in the calendar 1 day prior to their occurrence to make it in the feed. Events should be submitted at least 2 work days prior to ensure that sufficient time is available to add the event.
Audience Specific Pages
Pages that are geared toward certain audiences on campus (Current Students, Faculty/Staff, Alumni) are good ways for departments to get word out to these groups. To get an announcement posted on one of these pages, simply contact Web Services and we will work with you to promote the event.
SUU has implemented a tool that allows landlords to post their own housing properties for the SUU community. This tool is designed to allow the landlord/property owner to take control of their information without requiring assistance from Web Services.
