President and CEO of Banyan Inc. Speaks in Entrepreneurship Class

On September 18th, 2018, Southern Utah University welcomed Carine Clark, CEO and President of Banyan Inc., as a speaker for the Entrepreneurship Speaker Series. The Entrepreneurship Speaker Series is a course on campus that invites various successful business owners to present to the class each week. Speakers present on their accomplishments, challenges, and wisdom they’ve gained from their path to success.
During Clark’s presentation, she gave SUU students a handful of tips on business and life that she wished she had known sooner. Her advice centered on working as a millennial and defining your own success.
Clark shared her personal story of battling cancer and how it has defined the way she lives her life. She explained that coming so close to death reminded her to never waste time and to not be afraid to get out of her comfort zone. Clark has made a great impact on countless individuals and continues to inspire many.
“I really liked her speech because it was easily relatable as a college student,” said marketing senior Sabrina Embry. “All the advice she gave was current and up to date for today’s fast paced market. She also gave an inspiring message to not be scared which I liked because it can be applied to all aspects of life.”
Clark is an accomplished marketing executive and entrepreneur that has seen the ins and outs of businesses both small and large. Her data-driven decision making has helped her see many successes as president and CEO of multiple high-growth tech companies, as well as mentoring countless individuals. Clark has had great success in her pursuits and was honored to be named the 2016 Utah Entrepreneur of the Year by EY and 2015 CEO of the Year by Utah Business.
Clark earned both her bachelor's degree in organizational communication and MBA from Brigham Young University. Clark is currently working for the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Development as an Executive Board Member. Throughout her career, she has worked for well renown companies including Novell, Altiris, Symantec, Allegiance, Inc., MaritzCX, and now is the CEO and President of Banyan Inc.
Banyan is a quickly growing company that was founded in 2013. The company is designed to help doctors create and maintain better relationships with their patients. Their services include doctor-patient communication systems and coaching to help improve patient retention and satisfaction. Clark saw great potential in Banyan and its mission, and began working as their CEO in 2017.
The Entrepreneurship Speaker Series is a one credit upper division class, designed to give students the opportunity to learn from successful business owners. There are no prerequisites and the class is open to any majors. All students are welcome to attend, even if they are not enrolled in the course. The class is held Tuesdays from 11:30-12:20 in the Dixie L. Leavitt Business Building in room 126.
