There are many factors that can change your ideal schedule such as class seniority, professor schedules, and the time of day your classes are offered. If you find your schedule with “awkward” breaks in between classes, we got you covered with ten things you can do in between your classes.

  1. Watch a comedy. With the stress school classes can bring, it is nice to get a good laugh every once in a while.
  2. Go to an SUU event. Whether it is a gymnastics meet, a play, or a concert, these activities can build your social life and add to your college experience.
  3. Go on a Hike. Southern Utah is full of stunning state and national parks. In under an hour, you can be hiking or exploring Cedar Breaks National Monument, Kanarraville Falls, Gunlock State Park, Zion National Park, or Bryce Canyon National Park.
  4. Join a club. Did you know that SUU has more than 120 clubs on campus? These clubs provide a great opportunity to get involved, develop your talents, and meet new people.
  5. Watch Netflix or Hulu. Take time to relax and enjoy your favorite television show or movie. Give yourself a break and recharge for your next class!
  6. Take a power nap. With constantly learning and retaining information throughout the day, your brain needs time to rest. Taking a power nap can rejuvenate you for the day which will help you get things done more efficiently.
  7. Explore Campus. Have you ever stopped in between your classes to enjoy the beauty campus offers? With all the tall pine trees, green grass, and colorful flowers on campus, it can help you appreciate that you are around a clean environment. Exploring campus can also help you be familiar where all the buildings are, and may even help you find a perfect study spot for yourself.
  8. Workout. Going for a jog, lifting weights, or doing yoga can help lessen stress and boost your self-confidence. Taking a P.E. class or getting a gym membership can help you continually be healthy and find balance in your life.
  9. Volunteer. Volunteering is a great way to improve your resume, gain experience, and build your social network. Volunteering is also a great way to give back to your community. There are many opportunities with SUU’s Community Engagement Center and in the community.
  10. Go get ice cream. With all the hard work we put in our studies, we deserve to go get our favorite treat. Go ahead and “treat” yourself!

When you need a break from school or you are not looking forward to your next class, don’t sweat it! Try out these ideas to help you stay motivated during your class studies.
