Southern Utah University’s Pride and Equality Club (PAEC) has steadily grown in club members, events, and resources since its founding. PAEC invites all students to join their welcoming, inclusive environment.
“The great thing about PAEC is that you’re instantly welcomed,” said Jeanne Subjack, PAEC club advisor and assistant professor of criminal justice at SUU. “PAEC is always looking to welcome new members. They try to host a variety of events over the school year to get their name out there, and let students know that they are welcomed and valued.”
PAEC offers students a place where they can feel safe and get involved with the campus and community. In addition to weekly club meetings, the PAEC hosts several events each semester including Coming Out Day, the Drag Brunch/Ball, Pride Week, and a film festival (in partnership with the B.W. Bastian Foundation). The PAEC also hosts various resource fairs, panels, and workshops for students.
“The goal of PAEC is to give the LGBTQIA+ community somewhere they can feel supported on-campus,” said PAEC President Malachi Morehouse. “We are here to foster a good connection between the LGBT+ community and the larger SUU community.”
