Three Encouraging Quotes for Online Students
Posted: October 12, 2020 | Author: Grace Thorkelson | Read Time: 3 minutes
A student’s undergraduate college experience typically lasts for four or more years, and added motivation on a difficult day or during a tough semester may be just what they need to succeed. Students, take the time to slow down and think about how far you’ve come and where you want to end up. Then read the three encouraging quotes from individuals who have been in your shoes at one point in their life.
Believe in Yourself
“I’ve yet to meet someone who isn’t capable of succeeding at college,” said Alexander Street, Southern Utah University Online Admissions Team. “As long as you continue to put your best foot forward, and with the right help, you can do anything.”
Don’t let the stress of an exam, final project, or class make you feel as if you cannot succeed. Just as Alexander mentioned, you truly can overcome whatever academic challenges you will face as you continue moving forward and seek help from those around you. At SUU, a variety of resources are available to all students in an effort to help you be successful. From Academic Advising to the Career Center, and even an extensive Tutoring Program--SUU is here to help students learn, become who they want to be, and be prepared to enter the workforce.
Value of Education
Malcolm X explained that “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”
When you find yourself in the thick of your schooling, take time to ponder and reflect on how your education will help you get where you want to be in the future. Every investment made now, whether it be time away from family and friends, delaying your career, or financially paying for tuition and fees, will likely pay off in the long run. Keep in mind the grand scheme of things, rather than the here and now and what you feel like you may be missing out on.
Keep Trying
Trying new things will not be uncommon during your college years. Take advantage of this time to go out on a limb, learn a new skill, join a club that interests you, or even try something you know isn’t currently your strong suit.
As Albert Einstein said, “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”
We must keep in mind that it takes time to develop new talents, and being proficient requires effort and practice. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or fail momentarily. Doing so can help us understand where we can improve.
Overall, when you’re feeling a low-level of motivation remember what Alexander Street, Malcolm X, and Albert Einstein lived by. Believe in yourself, never lose sight of the end goal, and continue with your best foot forward no matter the stumbling blocks that are placed in your path.
