Why New T-Birds Should Schedule A Personalized Campus Visit

The start of college is fast approaching and this can be daunting to freshmen and transfer students. A personalized campus visit is the perfect way to get all the answers to important questions and for new students to become familiar with campus. With access to the Financial Aid Office, Career Center, SUU Bookstore, and Student Involvement and Leadership Office, as well as current students and faculty members, incoming students can learn more about campus life, class sizes, schedule details, and scholarships.
A Personalized Visit is different from a regular college tour. Regular college tours are for potential students who want to learn more about the college, whereas a Personalized Visit is tailored to committed, incoming students who want a taste of their upcoming campus life.
During a Personalized Visit, incoming students will meet their Ace (peer mentor), who will guide the tour around campus. The personalized tour includes a visit to all scheduled classrooms as well as main campus buildings and areas. Personalized Visits will also accommodate any meetings incoming students may have scheduled. These meetings may include:
- An appointment with a career advisor for tips on how to choose a major and find internship opportunities or on-campus jobs
- A meeting with a Student Success Advisor who helps you register for classes and make a degree plan
- Seeing a Financial Wellness Advisor to go over financial aid and create a plan for paying for college, create a budget, and explore other finance-related questions before classes begin
- Visiting the Student Involvement and Leadership Office to learn about the various ways to get involved on campus and know about campus events and happenings.
A Personalized Visit will help new students get connected with all sorts of awesome organizations here on campus. These visits are tailored to each student's wants and needs to make sure all questions are answered and help them to be confident about their upcoming school year. A Personalized Visit is the first-step to orientation and is the best way to prepare for life at SUU.
