Accounting Night: Meet the Firms

The Accounting “Meet the Firms Night” is an event held every fall at SUU and designed to create opportunities for current students to begin making connections for their future success by meeting with alumni who are already established in the accounting industry. SUU prides itself on the fact that nearly 100 percent of SUU accounting graduates have job offers upon graduation. Many alumni and firms recruit SUU students before they have even completed their college degree. Meet the Firms Night is an opportunity for students to consider the professional possibilities and display their skills and achievements to potential employers.
Last fall there were over 30 different accounting firms who attended this event. Some of the high profile organizations in attendance included the IRS, FBI, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, RubinBrown, and Tanner LLC.
How to Prepare for this Opportunity

- Make/update your resume information.
It is worth setting up an appointment with the career center to learn "How to Write a Resume, Cover Letter, and Reference List" .
- Review the Career Fair Etiquette page.
The “Career Fair Etiquette" page includes many resources that can help you prepare for this event. Including resume basics, maintaining eye contact, identifying company research questions to ask, and elevator pitch etc…
- Come dressed to impress.
The career center has a great resource to consider SUU Career Center Professional Closet. This resource has a breakdown of professional dress 101 which breaks down what students should and should not wear to this event.
- Do your research.
Researching the companies that are recruiting at this event is another way to make an impression. Handshake is a great tool that can help in your searching efforts. There is an SUU specific account located on the right hand side of your student SUU portal.
