Whatever university or college you end up attending, students have the same goal: academic success. Many times, throughout our undergraduate career we find ourselves stressing about how we can do better at school. When that stress comes, here are some things that can help.
While attending Southern Utah University I’ve found that some of the greatest resources I have to help me deal with my course load are available through the university!
Tutoring Center
First on the list is the tutoring center. There you can get one-on-one help with homework problems or clarification on hard-to-understand course material. Tutoring sessions are free for students and available both in person and online.
Study Groups
Make a study group with friends. This could be an informal group of friends that you met through the International Affairs office that you get together with to help each other stay focused during long study sessions, or it could be an organized event with other students studying the same course material. Either way study groups are a great way to assess and improve your academics.
Writing Center
The Undergraduate Writing Center is super helpful when it comes to improving an essay or other writing assignment. You can get helpful feedback no matter if you are just starting your paper, finishing an essay or anywhere in between. This can be particularly helpful for international students who are still working on developing their language skills.
Professors
Here at SUU, our professors love meeting with students to get to know them and help them succeed in their classes. If you are struggling don’t hesitate to reach out to your professor. Their email and office hours are usually listed in the course syllabus.
These resources have helped me achieve the academic success that I wanted, and I’m sure they will help you too!
