If you’re interested in working for a specific company, visiting their website and exploring their career pages is also a great way to find internship opportunities.

Contact Employers Directly
Networking is key! Identify organizations that align with your career interests and reach out to their Personnel Department or a specific department within the organization. Building relationships with employers can open doors to exciting opportunities.

Faculty members are excellent resources when it comes to internships, as they have valuable connections within their professional networks. Some departments even have structured internship or cooperative education programs. Speak with your professors or advisors for suggestions and leads on internship opportunities.

These platforms allow you to tap into the experiences and insights of alumni who can offer guidance, share industry knowledge, and potentially open doors to internships.
Academic Internship Credit
Did you know that you can receive credit for an internship? Here’s how:
- Contact Your Academic Internship Coordinator:
Your Academic Internship Coordinator is responsible for approving your internship and guiding you through the process of registering for the course. The first step is to reach out to them via email or schedule a meeting to get started.
If you're not sure who that is, contact your department's administrative assistant for help. - Find An Internship:
If you haven’t already secured an internship, there are many resources to help you. Refer to the ‘How to Find an Internship’ section above for detailed guidance. - Apply to be Considered For Credit:
Once you’ve completed steps one and two, you can start the application process to receive credit.

- Collaborate with your Academic Internship Coordinator and Site Supervisor to complete the required forms. Note: These required forms must be completed prior to beginning your internship to receive academic credit.
- Submit the Online SUU Internship Application (preferred), or the fillout the Print SUU Internship Application.

Academic Internship Credit Criteria and Information
- Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and at least 30 completed undergraduate semester hours.
- Approximately 45 work hours equals 1 academic credit, this can vary depending on the department.
- No more than 12 internship credits can count toward major/minor requirements, though some departments may limit this further.
- Internships for credit are graded on a pass/fail basis.
