Internship Credit
While many academic departments at Southern Utah University will grant credit for internship experiences, students will not automatically receive academic credit for their work experience.
To Receive Credit
- Make an appointment with your Department Internship Coordinator. If you're not sure who that is, contact your department's administrative assistant for help.
- If you are granted academic credit for your experience, your Department Internship Coordinator will inform you of any additional requirements you will need in order to receive the credit.
- If the internship is taken for credit, it will be graded on a Pass/Fail (P/F) basis. Passes will not count in your GPA, but Fails will.
- Regular tuition rates apply. However, you may be able to work with your department to determine when the internship credits will be added to your schedule.
Other Information
- In departments that allow internship credit to apply to major or minor requirements, no more than 12 credit hours toward a bachelor's degree may be earned through internships. Some departments will only allow a portion of those 12 hours to apply directly to the major or minor requirements.
- An Internship Permission Form must be completed and turned in to the Registrar's Office at the time of registration.
- SUU has an official policy on student internships: Policy 6.3 Internships.
