Thor's Pledge Scholarship
Your journey toward success is important, and Southern Utah University is ready to support you every step of the way.
We invite you to apply for the Thor’s Pledge Scholarship, which can cover your tuition and student fees. To qualify, you must be eligible for a Pell Grant and have a household income of $65,000 or less. This scholarship is available on a first-come, first-served basis to Utah residents who are full-time undergraduate students. The scholarship amount varies based on your federal aid and other scholarships, helping you secure the necessary funds for your education.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Utah resident
- Must be an incoming student for the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (12+ credits per semester)
- Must be a degree seeking student in the Main Campus (Face to Face Instruction)
- Must complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA.
- Eligible for the Pell Grant through FAFSA or have a household income of $65,000 or less reported through the FAFSA
How to Apply
- Apply to Southern Utah University: This scholarship is only available to admitted students.
- Complete your FAFSA Application: Apply as early as October 1st for the upcoming year to be considered for the Thor’s Pledge Scholarship.
- Finish Enrollment Steps: Complete your Enrollment Deposit and the T-Bird Take-Off Questionnaire before award decisions are made.
The priority deadline is December 1, 2024 and the overall deadline is March 1, 2025. Priority will be granted to students that complete the FAFSA, their Enrollment Deposit, and the T-Bird Takeoff Questionnaire (TTQ).
Award notifications are sent out after January 1st for the Fall semester. Eligible students will be automatically considered based on FAFSA submission. To secure the award, submit your enrollment deposit and T-Bird Take-Off Questionnaire.

Scholarship Renewal Requirements
- Enroll in at least 12 credit hours each semester at Southern Utah University
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA and a 70% course completion rate
- Qualify for Federal Pell Grant funds by:
- Completing the FAFSA application
- Completing any outstanding financial aid documentation
- Or Qualify for a household income less than $65,000 reported on the FAFSA
Scholarship Stipulations and Conditions
- Covers only tuition and student fees; excludes program and course fees
- Eligible for up to 8 academic semesters
- This scholarship can not be deferred.
- Must be pursuing your first bachelor’s degree
- Available only to undergraduate students on the SUU main campus (not for graduate or online students)
- Funding is contingent upon availability each year
- This scholarship is a last dollar award. Scholarship awards may be adjusted based on changes in Pell Grant eligibility or other aid that comes in during each academic year.
- Scholarships are awarded at the beginning of the academic year (Fall 2025); appeals can be submitted for extenuating circumstances
- Scholarship amounts may change from year to year depending on funding availability, FAFSA information, and other scholarships.
