Enrollment Management Director Joins SUU

Stephen C. Allen, Southern Utah University alumnus and former student body president, assumes the newly-created position of Executive Director of Enrollment Management in mid-July.

After undergoing a national search with more than 40 applicants, Allen emerged as the successful appointee to this new and important leadership assignment. He brings an impressive background of experience and education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he has spent the past five years in a variety of assignments all related to marketing, web development, admissions, recruitment, and scholarship and financial aid services.

Enrollment management is a comparatively new focus in higher education, involving the close correlation and integration of the functions of admissions, student recruitment/school relations, financial aid and scholarships, also coincides with the marketing to and retaining of students. Successful Enrollment Management ensures that students are not only successfully recruited, but also, effectively served and graduated.

At SUU, the offices of admissions, school relations and financial aid/scholarships will serve under the direct leadership of the executive director of enrollment management, who will likewise work with the entire campus in providing leadership for all of these key functions.

An SUU graduate in communication with emphases in public relations and advertising, Allen served as student body president at the University during the 1997-98 school year. He also served as vice president of the Presidential Ambassadors, co-producer of the Institution’s viewbook, designer of the tour guidebook, and creator of a newsletter for high schools. His interest in, knowledge of and enthusiasm for the University has remained strongly intact over the years.

Allen hails from Monticello, Utah, where he graduated from high school. He earned a master's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he is also nearing completion of a doctorate in educational leadership.

He is married to the former Lisa Brown of Cedar City. They are the parents of two daughters.
