Book or Treat, New Public Library Fundraiser

The Cedar City Public Library, in an attempt to raise funds and receive books, will host the event from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday night. The cost of the event is $1 or the donation of any book to the library. All donations will also be accepted and given to the new library to expand their current selection of materials.

Starting Thursday, October 30, students from the SUU Honor Society, as well as the SUU Service Learning Center, the Lambda Pi Etta Service Club, and Manzanita Hall residents, will trick-or-treat one day early for a $1 donation or a book off any shelf. The students are going to be dressed up and canvassing Cedar City to help the public library.

The bond received by the Public Library built the new building but did not supply money for new books and other media materials. With a great new location needing to be filled, the SUU Honor Society took the initiative to help out the library as part of this year’s service project.

All proceeds are donated to the city library. Materials needed for the library are books, books on tape, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and magazines.
