Southern Utah University’s College of Performing and Visual Arts' Department of Theatre and Dance presents, Cross Roads: A Faculty Dance Concert.

Performances will run March 25, 26, 27, 31 and April 1, 2, and 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Randall L. Jones Theatre. Ticket prices are $3 for students with ID, $6 for faculty/staff with ID, and $10 for adults. Tickets are available at the Box Office by calling (435) 586-7878.

Cross Roads is a collection of dance pieces, choreographed by San Christopher, and re-staged by SUU Associate Professor of Dance, and Department Chair, Shauna Mendini, along with other SUU Dance faculty, Susan Hadley, Kay Andersen, Paul C. Ocampo, Gwen Grimes, and guest choreographer, Chien-Wing Wang.

The Faculty Dance Concert is an annual production and this year will allude to the ideals of change, new beginnings, and continual motion.

One keynote performance, titled Working Mind In Progress, involves a duet number with new faculty member, Paul C. Ocampo and guest choreographer, Chien-Wing Wang. “The collaborative work between the choreographer and performer is a result of their pursuit to deepen their consciousness and awaken the mind into what happened, what is happening, and what will happen with humanity” Ocampo explains. “It is an investigation of bringing the psyche into movement kinesthetically.”

Ms. Wang has spent time on campus holding workshops in order to audition and rehearse with the dancers. Her time at Southern Utah University has been made possible by the generous support of Linda C. Smith, Executive/Artistic Director of Repertory Dance Theatre and the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation.
