National Council of the Arts member presents at Art Insights

The SUU Department of Art and Design will feature James Ballinger in this weeks Art Insights seminar Thursday, September 14th at 7 p.m. in the J.L. Sorenson Physical Education Building, room 101. Ballinger will present “Artists and Museums, A Delicate Balance,” a presentation which will cover how artists should present themselves to museum staff.

Ballinger earned both a Bachelor of Arts in American History and a Master of Arts in the History of Art with a specialization in American Art from the University of Kansas. He the currently the Vice President of the Association of Art Museum Directors and was appointed by President Bush as a member to the National Council on the Arts. Ballinger has also written over 20 publications regarding all aspects of art.

Ballinger stated that his presentation will, “cover issues such as how artists should present themselves and their art to art museum staff, how artists can capitalize on a museum and its programs, and the museum’s responsibility to its artist community.”

Art Insights is a weekly program hosted during the Fall and Spring semesters by the Art and Design faculty. Art Insights brings professionals from many different fields of the visual art world to Cedar City. Admission is free, and the general public is invited to attend.
