Southern Utah University will host its annual Women's Week March 2-6, 2009 on the SUU campus.

This year's theme, The Stories We Tell, will provide campus and community members the opportunity to learn more about women and their "stories" relating to a variety of topics including business and career, health, and arts. There will also be several interactive and family friendly events including a benefit dinner for the SUU pantry, an "open mic" night, dance concert, and concludes with the SUU Gymnastics meet on Friday evening.

This year's featured speakers include Diane Dutton, Carole Grady, Elena O'Donnal, Keynote Speaker Dorothy Smith, a number of Women's issues oriented panels and films.

Linda Liebhardt, Circulation Coordinator at the Gerald R. Sherratt Library, former chair of the event and a current committee member spoke of the mission for the week saying, "Women’s Week seeks to enrich and inform students, faculty, and the community by presenting forums for discussion and presentations about the accomplishments of women past and present, as well as bringing awareness of women’s opportunities and needs as they relate to women in a global society."

She added, "It's not just for women - this is an opportunity for men as well to come and learn about the lives of women and their contribution to society."

All events open to public and most are free. Students may register for University credit in HSS 2920 and 4920. For a complete calendar of the week's events, please visit the Women's Week website, http://www.suu.edu/womensweek/0809Schedule.pdf.
