The Southern Utah University Department of Music and its OPUS Chamber Choir are excited to host the OPUS Carnival Fundraiser this weekend for the campus and local communities.

The carnival, which will be held at the Main Street Park in Cedar City, will run from 4 p.m. until dark on Friday, September 25, and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2009.

The fundraiser will involve a wide variety of family-friendly games and activities, including a dunking booth, inflatable jumpers and a car smashing station. Carnival-style vendors and food will also be available.

$5 punch cards with 10 punches each will be sold at the carnival, and each activity will cost anywhere from one to four punches. All proceeds from the carnival will go towards defraying the cost of OPUS’s upcoming tour to Italy next March.

OPUS is a select chamber choir of around 25 voices. The group performs a wide variety of choral literature, ranging from sixteenth century madrigals to contemporary music. OPUS is Southern Utah University's premiere vocal ensemble and has toured extensively in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, California, Washington, Canada and England.
