Southern Utah University's Friends of the Sherratt Library will host their inaugural gala and membership drive next Friday, October 9, from 7-9 p.m. in the Gerald R. Sherratt Library.

The festivities surrounding this year's theme, "An Evening with Friends," have been designed to bring community and campus together in a celebration of creativity and independent thought.

In addition to dinner and live music, guests will enjoy presentations from the University's faculty and students, including poetry readings, documentary video presentations, art displays and book discussions by several local authors. Additionally, the evening's honored guests, Homer Jones and Max Bonzo, will both be in attendance, and their individual collections of historic photos will be on display.

This evening promises to be a true showcase of the region's many talents.

The library has also created displays for the evening designed to educate those in attendance of the many community resources available through the University's library.

The gala is open to the public, and though tickets will be available at the door, guests are encouraged to please RSVP in advance to gala coordinator Sheri Butler at 435-586-7947.

Tickets are $40 per person and include dinner, live entertainment and patron level membership into the Friends of the Sherratt Library.
