True to SUU, Homecoming Traditions Promise Fun for All

Southern Utah University will celebrate Homecoming next week with various activities planned for each day leading up to the Thunderbirds Homecoming football game on Saturday, October 24 at 2 p.m. in the Eccles Coliseum.The campus and local communities are invited to participate in festivities throughout the week:

Tuesday, October 20
7 p.m. Volleyball vs. Utah Valley University, Centrum Arena
8:30 p.m. Hoedown: Country Dancing and Games, Sharwan Smith Student Center
Wednesday, October 21
5 p.m. Powder Puff Football, Upper Quad
6 p.m. Basketball Bash, Centrum Arena
Thursday, October 22
12:30 p.m. Cardboard Boat Races, SUU Pool
7 p.m. Homecoming Pep Rally, Business Quad
Friday, October 23
4 p.m. Sterling R. Church Auditorium Dedication, Sharwan Smith Student Center
5:30 p.m. Service & Learning Center Ribbon Cutting and Open House, 185 S. 300 W.
8 p.m. Mentalist Craig Karges, Randall Jones Theater
Midnight True T-Bird Ceremony, Old Sorrel Statue
Saturday, October 24
8 a.m. SUUper Sorrel 5k Fun Run & Walk, Coal Creek Trail (baseball field trailhead)
10 a.m. Alumni Brunch and Awards, Gilbert Great Hall
11:30 a.m. Homecoming Parade, University Boulevard
Noon Thunderbird Village Tailgate west of Eccles Coliseum
2:00 p.m. Football vs. North Dakota State University
In addition, there will be several SUUSA, Thunderbird Athletics and fraternity/sorority reunions over Homecoming weekend. These reunions include a gathering for the 1973-75 football teams, SUUSA representatives from the 1989-90 and 1994-95 school years, Delta Sigma Chi, Alpha Phi Sorority and the SUU Athletics' Varsity Club, open to all former student-athletes.
