Turn Ideas into Success with the Best Business Idea Competition

Published: December 03, 2010 | Read Time: 1 minutes

All great businesses begin as a simple idea to provide something new, something needed. With the spark of invention – and the right backing – midnight musings may very well bring about success.

The call is once again open for the Small Business Development Center’s (SBDC) annual Best Business Idea Competition – promising the first big break to a few inventive residents from across the region interested in pursuing their own big ideas.

The fifth such contest, the Best Business Idea competition has fueled the ideas of more than 15 local entrepreneurs over the years.

The competition is open to anyone in Iron, Beaver or Garfield counties, including Southern Utah University students of all majors.

To encourage the inventive to take the next step, the first place winner of the Best Business Idea Competition will receive a $3,000 prize to use as start-up money to turn ideas to reality, with the second and third place entries claiming $1,000 and $500, respectively.

The Small Business Development Center is available to help interested applicants compile their plans, but an executive summary must be submitted by December 6, so now is the time to finalize ideas for the competition.

Additional resources and information are available through the SUU Small Business Resource Center, located on downtown Main Street: 435-865-7707. The competition form is also available online (link below).
