On Saturday, August 13, celebrate with the Utah Shakespeare Festival as it hosts the Bard’s Beach Bash from 1-5 p.m. at the Cedar City Aquatic Center.
As part of its golden anniversary, the Festival wants to thank the Cedar City community for fifty years of support and success. Guests will enjoy a beach party, complete with swimming, hot dogs, volleyball and music from the 1960s and are encouraged to bring beach gear, chairs, towels and sunscreen.
Free beach balls and frisbees will be handed out as supplies last.
Two different bands will be performing live at the event: “The Clique” and “Good Vibrations”.
The Clique's members are originally from Cedar City and have gone on to perform regionally. They are a popular cover band with music that is cross-generational.
Good Vibrations, a Beach Boy Tribute Band from Las Vegas, has appeared at a number of high profile venues, including The House of Blues, Caesars Palace, the Indianapolis 500 and The Derby. The musicians and performers of Good Vibrations capture the legendary, toe-tapping sounds of some of the greatest hits of America's most legendary band, The Beach Boys in their high-energy show. People will be dancing to classic hits like "California Girls," "I Get Around," "Help Me Rhonda" and "Surfin’ USA."
R. Scott Phillips, executive director of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, invites all local residents and everyone attending the Festival this weekend to join the party and play.
“The Bard’s Beach Bash is going to be an exciting day with fun for the whole family. Beyond having a good time, the event is about graciously thanking the community. Without its support the Utah Shakespeare Festival would not be where it is today,” said Phillips.
The Festival thanks all the contributors who have made this event possible: Cedar City Corporation, Southern Utah University, Cedar City Aquatic Center, Iron County School District, Cedar City Rotary Club, Lin’s Market Place, Dairy Queen, Coca-Cola of Southern Utah, Frito-Lay, Diamond Z Ranch, Betty McDonald, the SUU Football Team and Coach Lamb, Bulloch Drug, Sara Lee/Earth Grains, Charlotte Pipe, Hampton Inn, Cedar View Pediatric Dentistry and Affiliated Orthodontists: Dr. Lance Whetten and Dr. Cody Wilson.
