As the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks approaches, so too does the National POW/MIA Recognition Day — a day dedicated to remembering and honoring individuals who are either missing-in-action or a prisoner of war.
In conjunction with these two events, Southern Utah University’s ROTC will be sponsoring retired Captain of the United States Navy Ron Lewis to speak to the campus community about POW/MIA awareness on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011.
Over 83,000 American families deal with the burden of not knowing the fate of loved ones who remain unaccounted for from past wars and armed conflicts. These individuals and their families should not be forgotten nor should their services.
Lewis will speak at 2 p.m. in the Sharwan Smith Theater. It is free and open to all, with time for questions at the end of Lewis’s address.
