Got a winning idea for Utah’s next best business but not sure how to get it off the ground?
Southern Utah University’s Business Resource Center can help, and your timing couldn’t be better. The Center has just opened its sixth annual Best Business Idea Competition, giving imaginative minds a shot at turning their entrepreneurial ideas into realities.
Since 2006, the Business Resource Center has helped SUU students and citizens of the region turn their talents, enthusiasm and ideas into successful business ventures. Past winners have used the competition as a springboard for starting their own businesses and finding successful careers in entrepreneurship.
SUU students from any field of study are encouraged to join the competition. Residents of Iron, Beaver and Garfield counties are also eligible to compete.
First place winners will receive $3,000—a helpful start in launching the victor’s new business endeavor. Second and third place winners will receive $1,000 and $500, respectively.
Additional awards of $1,200, $800 and $500 will be exclusively available to SUU students, offered by competition sponsor Opportunity Quest.
Entries for the 2011 Best Business Idea Competition are due by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7.
Applicants are welcome to seek assistance from the SUU Business Resource Center in the competition application process. The Center is located at 77 North Main Street in Cedar City.
