Following SUU President Michael Benson’s announcement about NBC Learn to faculty and staff last week at the employees’ fall welcome meeting, the University will bring an NBC representative to campus next week to train the faculty and staff members who will now be using the leading news channel’s extensive print and video archives in the classroom.
To that end, SUU faculty, IT staff, library staff, as well as any other campus employees interested in learning more about this valuable new educational tool are invited to an SUU-specific NBC Learn training on Wednesday, September 5, at 1 p.m.
NBC Learn taps into a database of news stories that reach as far back as the 1920s in a vast but highly organized online database for educators.
Southern Utah University’s implementations of NBC Learn is led by Dr. Kyle Bishop, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. Those interested in attending the September 5th training to learn how to utilize this new resource in their SUU teaching may contact the Center for Teaching and Learning through Matt Roan at 435-865-8770.
Always eager to assist local educators, Southern Utah University has also gifted the Iron County School District access to NBC Learn. Training for local elementary, middle and high school educators and administrators will follow in the coming weeks.
