Following on the success of the autumn movement workshop for youngsters, SUU’s Department of Theatre Arts & Dance offers a second series of workshops created by the Creative Dance Class. On Saturday, December 8, preschool-and elementary-aged children are invited to participate in “Come Dance with SUU” from noon until 4 p.m. in the University’s Multi-Purpose Center. The sessions are free and open to youngsters in the community.

Under the supervision of Denise Purvis, assistant professor of dance, the workshops have been created for children ages 3 to 11 and are for all levels of dancers. Available sessions include two time offerings to choose from for each age group:

  • 3–4 Year Olds, noon–12:45 p.m. or 3–3:45 p.m.
  • 5–6 Year Olds, 1–1:45 p.m. or 2–2:45 p.m.
  • 7–8 Year Olds, 1–1:45 p.m. or 2–2:45 p.m.
  • 9–11 Year Olds, Noon–12:45 p.m. or 3–3:45 p.m.

Space is limited in all sessions. Parents are encouraged to register their children in advance at suu.edu/pva/ta. Online registration is easy; simply select the December 8 link for Creative Dance Workshops in the right sidebar and complete the form. There are no fees associated with this free community service.
